OK, so it's been a while since my last update.  Things have changed a little.

First of all, I finally got everything worked out with CVS, and I've been a floating pharmacy tech for the last month, which I really enjoy.  I get to meet new people every week, and I have an excuse to not know where everything is in each store.  Moving around keeps things interesting.  (And we all know that I have a pretty short attention span, so that's good).  I like some stores more than others, sometimes because of the lay out, or how busy they are, but usually, it's the people that make or break a pharmacy, and in that respect, I've only found one out of the five I've worked at so far that I don't like.  (Actually, the one I don't like is the one I was supposed to be at all summer.  So in a sense, I'm glad I'm floating.)  But after 4 weeks in 5 different pharmacies, I still don't know whether or not pharmacy is for me.

I just finished helping out with the Holy Cross High School Summer Conference.  Which was totally awesome!  There wasn't a whole lot of intrest from Antioch this year, (I blame Stubie,) but even if it was only the Chaldeans that came, it would have been worth it.  (If you haven't met the Chaldeans yet, you're coming the Conference next year.  Period.  No questions asked.)

For the Antiochers:  While BK is still sticking to 8 hour days (and 16 hours of sleep) he looks GREAT, and he's still keeping his upbeat attitude.  I think seeing this conference actually happen really helped his morale.  I didn't get to see Lou and Becki too much, (I was a little proocupied,) but the girls are getting HUGE, and Becki is starting to show again.

I suppose the last exciting thing that's happened recently is this.

I suppose I need a disclaimer here.  That isn't actually my foot.  I haven't been motivated enough to find someone with a scanner so I can get my actual x-rays online (if anyone around here has one they'd be willing to volunteer, let me know.)  I found this on Google, but it's rediculously close to what my foot looks like right now.  Though actually, the two halves of that last bone are a little farther apart in mine, and the next bone over is cracked too.  What can I say?  I'm a klutz.  So no work this week (I'm bored!  Come over and visit me!!!)  I have a bone doctor appointment on thursday, where they will decide to reset it, do surgery, or just assume it'll figure things out on its own, as well as whether to cast it, put it in a brace of some kind, or just keep it wrapped like it is now, and also how much longer I have to be on crutches and not at work.

So yeah, life is pretty boring, but really, I suppose it could be worse.  I could not have the internet.  That would just plain suck this week, lol.  Peace!!

Ever since my first internship training on Monday, I’ve been freaking out about trying to get an intern permit, which requires the signature of the dean of the pharmacy school you’re attending.  Hmmm.  I’m not in pharmacy school.  So yeah, it doesn’t come out until today that you can’t be an intern unless you’re IN pharmacy school.  *Strangles Reggie, who said it was ok.* So my supervisor’s solution is for me to be a tech all summer, and attend all the intern functions anyway.  (Pay difference has yet to be disclosed.)  I think I’m just going to avoid telling my parents, seeing as how there’s really no reason to, and no way they would find out.  I’ll still be doing all the same things as an intern would, basically.  Or at least close enough that they won’t notice the difference.  And on top of trying to figure all this out, and figure out when I’ll actually start working in the pharmacy, I still have to actually learn the job.  That’s right.  Eight hours of training with a district trainer.  A 3 inch binder full of reading material that I’ll be quizzed over, and 5 training programs on CD that I have to work though, pass a test at the end, and get a completion code.  I do get paid for all of this, but not nearly enough.  Pharmacy is looking less appealing every day, but we’ll see how I feel about it in August.  I hate not knowing what I want to do.

Since Adam has been yelling at me to update this, I suppose I probably should.  Life updates:

I’m single.  Yes, I finally broke up with Marc.  It really wasn’t anything he did, or anything like that.  We just didn’t have the connection we used to.  We could go three or four days without seeing each other and we really wouldn’t even notice.  It was actually kind of funny.  I don’t think breaking up really bothered either of us that much.  He has a new girlfriend already, and while I might be upset if it was someone else, I can’t really fault him for dating Katy.  She’s wonderful and she’s great for him.  On that note, I’m now officially single AND LOOKING, lol.

I’m still academically eligible for pharmacy school.  Technically.  I got an A, a B and two Cs this semester, which brings me up to three Cs that actually count (the one from the .5 credit biology lab freshman year doesn’t count), and my cumulative GPA is still 3.25, which is above the 3.1 minimum.  I would just have to drastically improve my interviewing skills, and self confidence, and figure out what I would want to do with a degree in pharmacy, because I really have no idea.

I don’t know if I still want to be in pharmacy school.  I hate the idea of completely changing career tracks right now.  I’ve been through two years of biology/pharmacy curriculum, and for the most part, I love the biology and hate the pharmacy.  But at the same time, I don’t know if I’d be happy working in a lab all day.  I love solving problems, and figuring out how things work, but stuck at a bench all day, working with the same people every day?  I don’t know how good I am at it, but I love dealing with people, solving human relations problems, and generally being able to help people.  I would love to work in a hospital, or some other health care facility, but I don’t deal very well with blood.  Not to mention, I would have to practically start my education over to go into something like nursing.

I’ve thought about something like physical therapy, but that’s a lot of school, and I know I’m going to get burnt out at some point.  (We’re talking 2-3 years of grad school after I finish a BS in biology, which will probably take 4.5-5 years as it is.)  Mom thinks I’d enjoy speech therapy, but only 2 or 3 of the courses I’ve taken so far would even apply to the degree.  By the end of this year I’ll have a minor in psychology, but as with everything else, I don’t think I’d want to do that as a career.

Does anyone at all have any suggestions?  LOL.

I’m in South Bend for the summer working at CVS.  Hopefully this will help me decide what I want to do with my life.  Or at least whether or not pharmacy is for me.  I really need to make a decision at some point.

Well, I think that’s all the major points for the moment.  I’m sure I’ll think of something I’ve forgotten in about 15 minutes, so more than likely, I’ll start updating again relatively regularly.  Until next time.

Peace!
